Sugar Mill Assessment and Remediation
Over a four-year period, the company assessed, designed, and remediated contamination spread over a 50-acre site. The facility had operated for more than 100 years and had a history of disposing of materials onsite. Individual buildings and process equipment were decontaminated prior to demolition. USTs were located and removed. Groundwater and soil were evaluated and remediated using a variety of innovative applications. Hazardous wastes totaling 100,000 pounds were packaged and transported 3,000 miles for disposal.
Superfund Project-Pacific Islands
Covering 11 islands and half the Pacific Ocean, support was provided to Region IX USEPA in the design, logistical management, and implementation of assessing and remediating remote locations known to have historical contamination issues.
